Then comes the stretch that surprises people: rough-in. Plumbing lines get run, framing gets adjusted, inspections happen. For a week or more your bathroom looks like an empty shell and it can feel like nothing is happening. This is the most important phase of the entire job. Everything that determines whether the finished room performs is decided here, behind walls you'll never open again.

The visible transformation happens late and fast. Tile goes up, cabinets get set, fixtures go in, and a room that looked like a construction site for two weeks becomes a finished space in a matter of days. That's normal. It's not a sign that we saved everything for the end.

Fixing a tile line while the thinset is still workable takes minutes; fixing it after grout takes a day.
